BLUE BANANA STUDIOS IS THE HOME OF A FAMILY OF ARTISTS

Located on Taufa’ahau Road, downtown Nuku’alofa, in the Fund Management House.

June ‘Sune’ Egan is known throughout the Pacific for pioneering contemporary painting on traditional hand beaten bark paper know as ‘tapa’. Her scenes depict the lifestyle and the true beauty of her home The Kingdom of Tonga. Here, Sune exhibits prints of her fine art. See this site for ‘ART Sune Egan’.

Shane Egan (Sune’s son) expresses his flair through unique designs- hand screen printed on lavalava & t-shirts, along with his fine art. He has designed business and sporting association logo and t-shirts and national designs for Airlines and Olympics. As you drive round the island you may chance upon his airbrushed church windows. See this site for ‘ART Shane Egan’.

Chris Egan (Shane’s wife) adds her hand dyed fabrics, in bright tropical colours, to the shops spectrum- each an individual scene depicting the ocean life and tropical gardens of Tonga.

Their children Chas & Hayley, having grown up from babies in Tonga, were very involved in the family business. After completing their tertiary education in Australia, they return from time to time to contribute their various skills.

Hayley Egan, in-between career work in the prop departments of the Australian film studios, paints canvasses and sculpts original silver & gold jewellery for Blue Banana. See this site for ‘ART Hayley Egan’.
